This program featuring the YSO string section opens with Mozart’s famous serenade, Eine kleine Nachtmusik, and closes with another classic of string orchestra repertoire, Dvořák’s Serenade in E major. Between are works by Chickasaw composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, Chinese composer Bao Yuankai, 19th-century Mexican composer Ricardo Castro, and the ‘dean of African-American composers,’ William Grant Still, whose Ennanga (African Harp) will be performed by YSO harpist Jill Whitman. Theatre doors open at 6:15pm for ConcerTalk which begins at 6:25pm. ConcerTalks explore the composers of the works on the concert and their milieu as well as an in-depth look at each composition on the program.
